Copper Johnson

My version of my favorite fly, the Copper John in a red and chartreuse stripe. Think I'll call it the Copper Johnson.

Wooly Bugger

The classic standby fly.

Other than too large of a bead, too short of a hook, too long of chenille, and hackle facing the wrong direction, not bad for a first attempt.

Decided to try and tie my own flies. We'll see how it goes...

So Tired...

Went upstairs and found Ben asleep like this.

Candy...Yum!

We must not have fulfilled our sweet tooth from Valentine's Day...because today we went on a tour of Hammond's Candy in Denver. We got to see them make all kinds of candy and then bought some to take home!

Our New Kitchen Backsplash by Melissa

Finally! Brad and I have been talking about redoing our kitchen backsplash since we moved in. Below are some before, during and after photos.

I slaved an entire weekend over this project. Brad basically did nothing. OK, so maybe it was Brad who did everything. But, I pitched in a little...including taking photos, telling Brad if he messed up, and I even got electrocuted when I touched a wet sponge to a live outlet.

Computer whiz

Ben loves playing (or "working" as he says) on the computer!

My first trip to the ER

We had our first “emergency” situation with Ben. In quotes because Mommy and Daddy thought it was worse than it was.

Ben was riding a bike at daycare, hit a rock and flew over the handlebars. He got a bloody nose and mouth and also got a deep cut in his forehead. Daycare called my work and said “there is blood everywhere” and that he would need stitches. The daycare director said she didn’t even recognize Ben because he was covered in blood. Which, of course, freaked me out!

So Brad picked him up and I met them at an urgent care center. I was expecting the worst, but when I walked in – Ben smiled and said “Hi Mommy!” He acted like nothing had happened! And they didn’t even have to do stitches – they just “glued” his forehead back together and he is fine.

I have a feeling this is not our last trip to the hospital...

Here is Ben with his new car for being a brave boy:
